18.6.2014, EUROPEAN SUPERKART SERIES – Hockenheim / DE
The Adam Kout show in the EUROPEAN SUPERKART SERIES goes on.
Last weekend the troop of drivers of the European Superkart Series (ESS) went to Hockenheim for the second time this season to the event called “Stuttgarter Rössle after their season already started on the traditional Grand Prix Circuit.
This time the grid has 21 pilots all over from Europe only in the “big” division 1 for the 2 cylinder, 250ccm and nearly 100HP strong superkarts on their entry list for the 3rd event of the season. So it was time to call the half season champion due 6 events are on the 2014 schedule.
After Czech Adam Kout (MS-Kart /DEA) showed a 100% performance at the last event in Oschersleben where he won both events, drove both fastest race laps and also took pole position he was obvious the favorite for the Hockenheim event as well for the championship which he is leading too. So there were some expectations who of his competitors will be able to take his level. David Pickel (Anderson / BRC), Guido Kleinemeyer (PVP /DEA), current champion Daniel Hentschel (Anderson / DEA), ex F-3 man Peter Elkmann (MS-Kart / VM) and Adam Jost (Anderson / VM) are the men who are listed behind Kout in the championship rankings.
After the 1st of 2 qualifying sessions it was Peter Elkmann who seems to be able to take this position, but in the final session on Friday evening it was the MS-Kart factory driver Adam Kout who took the best place on the grid by 2/10 sec. ahead of Peter Elkmann – again. 3rd place went to Guido Kleinemeyer ahead of another routine driver Jürgen Reinke (Anderson / VM). 3rd row was taken by Andreas Jost on 5th in front of Daniel Hentschel and David Pickel whereby all championship leaders were close together on the grid.
Both races were scheduled for Saturday and perfect summer weather conditions welcome the spectators on the grandstands.
It became quite clear within the first 2 race laps that only Peter Elkmann or Adam Kout will take the win because they build up a good gap to their followers. They swapped the lead several times and they showed close but always fair racing. The chance to stay close to them was lost by Guido Kleinemeyer who made a mistake in the first hairpin which took him all chances for the points what cost him a good position for the championship this time. Coming from 5th on the grid Andreas Jost drove a strong race and took the 3rd place on the podium. Jürgen Reinke confirmed his qualifying position and finished on 4th place ahead of Daniel Hentschel. David Pickel did not finish because of technical trouble what effects his championship position not in the best way.
After a short break the second race expected the drivers again for 10 laps on the 4,5km traditional circuit. The story of the race was nearly the same as for the first one also when there were some hopes that Peter Elkmann can beat Adam Kout to keep the championship open as long as possible. But Adam Kout was not interested in this and took the victory again ahead of Elkmann as well the fastest lap for both races. So he achieved again a 100% event after Oschersleben 4 weeks ago. Without any trouble on his superkart Guido Kleinemeyer finished 3rd place. David Pickel achieved some rehabilitation with the 4th place after his non finish in the first race. Again on 5th place finished Daniel Hentschel ahead of Redspeed Racing Team driver Vesa Lehtinen
The top position in the championship is improved for Kout now with 141 points ahead of Daniel Hentschel who has 75 points on his account. Close behind lays David Pickel (70) and Guido Kleinemeyer (69) ahead of the trio of Andreas Jost (59), Vesa Lehtinen (57) and Peter Elkmann (51) who has already 3 “no points” results on his list.
