Season 2011

Canada - 16.8.2011

Hi Milan and Milena,

Just a quick email to let you know that MS Kart is the Canadian Rotax DD2 Masters Champion !

A complete press release will be prepared and sent to you by Wednesday of this week.

The kart was excellent to drive and has of course raised a lot of questions as to the origines of the kart. Great job on the assembly of the kart and I will speak to soon...

Best regards,

Hi Milena,

These pictures are from 2011 Kartmania Honda Challenge at Rowrah. Kart 43 Steven Welsh MS Lucas Racing won 2 heats and the Final with a 2nd in the outstanding heat. Although provisional, we believe that this means that he has secured the Championship with one round still to go.

Howard Lucas has continued with his winning ways even though the opposition was closer this round than they have been in the past.

The 7 karts of Michael Kew and Adam Saunders posting fastest laps in the heats. However, in the Final 4 of the top 5 karts were MS.

There are some video of Ht 1 where 43 came from the back to 2nd And the Final 2011 Kartmania Honda Challenge Rowrah 14 Aug Final

Hello Milena,

We had a race the past weekend and it went really good.

It was on my home track, I won the time practice, second in the first qualifying heat and I won the other. Won the prefinal and the final :-)

The chassi MS KART RZF29/KZ works perfect, I have no complaint about it.

Best regards,
Filip Gudmundsson

Round 3 of the CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship,  August 5-7th 2011 Assen / Holland - 10.8.2011

The third and last round of the European Superkart Championship was held at the track Assen in Holland in the days  5 – 7th of August 2011. It was a part of a rich programme of the Gamma Racing Day which visited nearly 100.000 spectators ! The atmosphere on the track was really fantastic !

The course of the whole race was characterized by really high speed in both qualifacations as well as in the final heats. Our MS Superkart Racing Team was represented by both factory pilots  – the Czech Adam Kout, who was after the first two EC round on position 6, and Marko Laine from Finland. Both of them starting of course with MS KART / VM. In total there  were 40 pilots on the starting grid, 9 of them on MS KART chassis. For this event we have prepared a new VM engine for Adam with new cylinders and crank shaft which showed a very good performance during the first tests on the dino (almost 4 HP more then the current engine). Unfortunatelly, even the new engine became the source of numerous problems and we did not manage to make a correct tuning. We were constantly struggled with high detonations. Adam finished neither  the free practice nor the first qualification. In  the second qualification we had to change the engine for the one we have used before this event and finally Adam managed to set the 5th fastest lap time. Unfortunatelly, the times run by all the drivers  in the second qualification were on average by 4,5 sec slower then in the first qualification 1 day before so in total Adam´s 5th time on that day was the 12th fastest lap time in total. Anyway, after all the problems we were fighting with before we were satisfied with that result. Marko Laine took the 23th position. From all the MS KART drivers the fastest one in the time practice was Peter Elkmann (MS Kart/ DEA) on place 10. Though, he was not even satisfied with this result because his ambitions in the last EC round pointed up to the highest places. However, he managed to get there: with an excellent drive from position 10 on the start he went forward up to the third place and reached the podium in the first final ! Adam had to retire the first race 4 laps to go from position 10 because of an engine failure, Marko Laine finished on place 19. Mark Verhaar (MS Kart / VM) from the Dutch race team of Jan Cramer passed the finish line on place 24.

Results of RACE 1 >>

The second race was in the sign of a battle for getting  the European Champion title between  Emmanuel Vinnuales from France, who was the winner of race 1, and the Englishman Gavin Bennett. The 2011 European Champion became Vinnuales, who by a tactical drive overtook Bennett at the end of the race and got the victory. A great drive was shown by Peter Elkmann again but unfortunatelly Peter had to retire from 3rd position because of DEA engine troubles which he fighted with for the whole course of the champiobnship.

Before the start of race 2 it rained a little so the track was not completely dry in the first two laps. Adam Kout took advantage of the track condition and managed to get from place 12 up to position 6 during the first lap. However, after the problems in race 1 his engine did not provide the maximum performance anymore and Adam went back step by step to place 11. It was a big pity because in the last race every point would have been useful for the final championship standings. Finally, 5 points from this round made together with five previous rounds 40 points and 9th place in the total ranking of the 2011 European Championship. Peter Elkmann finished in front of Adam on position 8 with 41 points.

On place 13 and 14 of race 2 there finished two Dutch drivers of Jan Cramer´s team: Romano de Ruit and Priscilla Speelmann, both on MS KART/VM. Marko Laine got the 18. position and Thomas Urhofer from Austria on MS made place 21.

FINAL  STANDINGS >>

In this season our MS Superkart Racing Team will partecipate in one more event which will be the ISS on the 22nd October also in Assen. Both Adam and Marko will fight for a good ranking in the final standings of this championship. Marko is currently on place 2 and Adam on place 4.

Now, we are all in suspense of the new VM engine comming out in 2012 which should help us to make our Superkarts competitive at the highest level of the European Championship.

MS KART won the 24 hours race in Le Mans !

Hello karters,

well, excellent trip to Le Mans last weekend for the high-light of our karting year - the 24-hour race at the "Circuit Alain Prost" Howard's team won - you have to be called "Steven" to race or crew on that team...... Alpha/AJB were second, also on an MS chassis and were challenging kart 43 very hard until they lost a chain and dropped back. Racing for Holland were third on a kart and kit they rented from Howard !

Autotec were fourth - Jamie, Lee and the two Joe's run by Jeff Johnson.

Fifth place and first in Clubman were GKD-Balmforth, run by Mike Thoms, doing his Ross Brawn impressions on the pit-wall, drivers were three youngsters, (Mark Brown and Tim Oliver who race at Warden Law, Howard's son Connor), and one old codger - we should run a "Seniors" team next year !

Sixth was the "Offline" team, who ran as "Snatch" last year, another kart rented from Howard !  Stretton were 7th, another MS team.

Tom and Mick McDonald were 8th, with Karl North from SAS and Sam Tugwell on the team, great recovery after a challenging start !

Other teams from Three Sisters included Format - Dave Heath, racing with Brian from Pitlane 2000 and Rhauri and Mark from "Controlled" and Blackflea - Tony and Tibbsy drafting in Rob Quinn from Roch Valley and Mark from SAS.

Jim White has posted some pictures on-line at >>>

Final results are still up at >>>  at the moment.

Don't forget next race at Wigan on Tuesday 19th, on the full circuit again. British GP this weekend, let's hope McLaren can find a bit of pace to challenge the Red Bulls !  a wet race might give Lewis and Jenson a chance !!

Utah – USA, 20.6.2011

Hello Milena,

This past week we were at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City, Utah.  The venue for the upcoming 2011 USA Rotax Grand Nationals in July.

After assembling the new Super Cadet for our new MiniMax customer, Michael Avasino, we made the 1000km road trip out to Utah for closed testing on Thursday, followed by open testing sessions on the Friday.  I am happy to report that the Super Cadet chassis produced competitive times straight out of the box. Our JuniorMax driver Brody Zink tested his RZF 29 on the Thursday where his fastest time was 4 tenths quicker than his competition. We were very pleased with the race pace of both karts.

Friday's practice day was difficult because of the heat and high altitude conditions, we had problems with tuning the engines throughout the day and therefore our times did not improve while our competitors figured it out and went faster.

Saturday was race day and again the weather and ever changing air quality was proving a challenge to the tuners. Avasino's MiniMax qualified in the top ten and raced in the prefinal without problems, finishing where he started. The main for Avasino was not as good as his engine developed a running problem and failed to finish the race.

Brody's warm up session was spent fine tuning the carburettor, turning competitive times that made us feel good for qualifying.  Brody went into the qualifying session, posting his pole position time on lap 4.  Sitting out the remainder of the session, the closest any other driver got was 3 tenths behind the RZF 29.

In the pre-final, Brody led the opening lap, but could not hold off the hard charging Dalton Sargeant that passed and led the race to the end with Brody pressuring the Tony Kart pilot all the way to the chequered flag.

For the main, Brody started off pole but got shuffled back to 6th position at the first corner. From here Brody raced back to a 2nd place finish with clearly a very fast kart.

This race had all of the major kart manufacturers race teams present. We were very pleased with our results and indicates that the MS Kart will be a strong contender for the Grand Nationals next month.

Thank you to all of the team at the MS Kart factory.

Regards,
Greg Zink

Hallo Milena,
